Teen Patti for Dummies - Learn the Basics for Mastering this Indian Three Card Game

Author: Neil Shah

Do you ever heard of Teen Patti? No, it's not a new friend for Barbie doll, and definitely it's not a restroom for younger people. Teen Patti is a challenging, unpredictable and fascinating game. Do you want to know more about the card game that half of the world's been playing and we haven't? Well, keep reading!

Teen patti is a card game, one of the most popular gambling games in India. It means "three cards" and belongs to a class of games called vying games (an old English word for the process of betting on who has the best combination of cards) That's why teenpatti is very similar to games like Poker and Brag (which are vying games too).

But Teen Patti, also known as Flush or Flash, has its own way of playing. Let's see some of the basic game rules:

Like poker, players bet on the chances of their hand being the strongest when compared to everyone else's. Winning hands are ranked from Trio (three of a kind), down to Straight Run (straight flush), Normal Run (straight), Colour (flush), Pair and High Card.

Each player puts a minimum bet into the pot (much like an ante in poker) and is then dealt three cards. Depending on the hand they have, each player then has the chance to bet the current amount or fold. If they look at their cards, they're playing seen. But if they're leave their cards fac/e down on the table they're playing blind.

In order to remain in a hand, each player can match the bet (with the current stake being the minimum a blind player must put in or double the current stake if a player chooses to become a seen player) or raise the bet.

The betting will go on like this until one of two things happen:

- All but one-player fold and the remaining player wins the money in the pot, regardless of what he/she held.

- All but two players fold. In that case, during his/her turn, one player pays for a "show" so both players cards are compared and the higher hand wins the pot.

Many people play Teen Patti casually during the weekends with friends in all over Southeast Asia, but it is very popular during Diwali festival in India, as families get together for hours to enjoy the festivities.

"3 cards" is also becoming very popular played over the internet because you can play online anytime 24/7. You don't have to wait until the weekend to enjoy teenpatti playing. You'll be able to find a whole online community to play with. Isn't it that great!

These are some of the basics about this indian game. Pretty simple, right? But remember, teen patti is a game simple enough to learn in ten minutes, but so interesting that it takes a lifetime to master it.
