As you can imagine, I'm extremely passionate about this wonderful and often misunderstood breed.

You've probably heard the anti-Pit Bull media reports, read the articles, and heard the gossip. Well, I for one am sick and tired of the misinformation floating around about Pit Bulls and as a result, I decided to fight back.

Pit Bulls dog owners should take an honest look into Pit Bull ownership. You should take the time to discover all the fascinating facts about the history of the breed of dog, learning which myths are outright lies, and the facts about the dog breed.

As an owner of the breed I can say from my own personal experience that the pit bull breed is one of the most loyal and very affectionate breed of dog I have ever owned. Here is an example of the type of well tempered dog that this breed really is. I have two children they play with our dog like he is some kind of toy. The dog really just lets them do what they want to him. I watched my daughter literally sit on the dogs back and pull on the dogs ears the dog just gets up licks my daughter on the face and moves to a different part of the room. Its like the dog knows that the child is just a child and really doesnt know that she is hurting the dog.

Its important that people understand that this type of dog and its breed are not bread for meanness. Its the dogs owner that takes advantage of the animals special abilities and exploits this breed of dog. Any dog can be made to be mean and aggressive regardless of its breed.

The AKC registered American Staffordshire terrier commonly known as the pit bull terrier is the breed of dog that I own. The UKC registered pit bull terrier is the very same animal. The only difference between the two is the AKC or UKC registration.

I am a dog lover by nature and after owning the various different breeds of dogs out there. I will always own a pit bull terrier. The animal is well behaved and a natural protector of its territory. And I have found out that of all the different breeds of dogs out there the the pit bull interacts with children quit well. This breed of dog has proven this way before the breed was abused. If you think back and remember the television program the little rascals that dog on that show was in fact a pit bull terrier.

To condemn this breed of dog because of the owners lack of understanding and compassion is just plain wrong. The owner that has abused this breed of animal is the one that should be condemned not the breed of dog. In fact any breed of dog is only, or only becomes what the owner has made the dog to become. All dogs are loving and affectionate by nature, and all dogs have tempers. If the temper is only what is tapped into then the dog is trained to be mean. The Dog is not mean by nature. It's the owner of that dog who is mean or just plan ignorant.
