The earth rotates around the sun faster than we can count, the trip takes 365-days; the moons attraction to the earth saves us from being burnt up as does the atmosphere; should we lose that, we'd lose our oceans into space. The earth if it suddenly stopped, what would happen? Woops...! Red lights would go on long before that, I hope. But Doctor Milam Skares, and his wife Mrs. Anita Skares, were about to do just that. They created a devise that could stop the earth like a train, just for a moment in time. It is possible, so they told their Court of Request, a group of several elites on Cibara; yes, they wanted revenge for the earthlings stranding them on the moon--some time ago.
